Day 14 and Rachel’s birthday we woke up in the Etap hotel we were staying in and Rachel opened her cards which we had brought with us. We then headed down for a buffet breakfast that was a bit sparse but it did the trick. We had decided that as we did not have the van we would cycle to Cannes beach for the day and just chill out. So after we had packed up we checked out and jumped on the bikes using google maps to try find the way. The direction which my phone gave us were not the best but we made it there in the end. Was about a 45 min cycle in total that was not bad as it was a lot of downhill ,which was not going to be fun on the return.
Enjoyed the full day chilling at the beach that was packed was full of “the beautiful people” so we fit right in. Had a Panini for lunch and an ice cold can of drink that really hit the spot.

At around 4ish we decided to head back. We had not heard from the guy fixing the van but we figured we would just head to his place.
The ride home was not as bad as expected although cycling in 30 degree weather is hard at the best of times. We eventually got back to his place and he informed us that he had only just got the part but he would get straight to fitting it. By the time we got to the top of his road which was extremely steep he had fitted new cylinder so we gave him a hand to bleed the brakes and then we were off. The drive down his hill immediately told us the brakes we working
We decided to just head to the first campsite we could find as we were both in need of showers after the sweating of the bike ride. We found just what we were looking for about 10 min for the mechanic’s place in a town called Grasse.
We had showers and made a lavish meal of spaghetti on toast then hit the sack. Tomorrow we would head for Monaco and then into Italy!
